start oo.org, open a new calc document, insert some data, insert simple chart. 
notice how document close button has disappeared.
exit the chart - button appears. enter - again disappears.

still there with 3.1.
whiletoolbars also change, main close button still works, and so should 
document close button

Reproducible with "Ooo 3.1.1 WIN XP DE[OOO310m19 (Build 9420)]", pls see my
presentation.

Not only Chart selection makes close button disappear, I saw the same effect for
an inserted DRAWing object. The effect for the DRAWing object disappeared after
I had added the close button for DRAW. And as expected, the Button appears in
WRITER when I coubleclick a DRAWing object after my Toolbar modification for DRAW.
So the "problem" seems to be theat the Standard Toolbar for the selected object
and not for the Document type will be shown. 

It can be discussed whether that's really useful, but I belive that is "as designed"
