Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 97034
Centered text-to-text alignment does not work properly with fixed line spacing
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:44:35 UTC
Basically, the last line of a paragraph of text set to middle text-to-text alignment is aligned to the base line instead. The problem happens reliably, not just once in a while. This is without any register-true setting. I have screenshots that show the problem; I'll see if I can attach them.

Not sure I understand where the problem is... The help says: "Text-to-text - Alignment Select an alignment option for oversized or undersized characters in the paragraph relative to the rest of the text in the paragraph." So it's about alignment *inside of a paragraph* of characters which have different sizes. In your document, all characters have the same size and you seem to point an alignment problem *between* paragraphs... So either you didn't understand the use of text-to-text or I didn't understand your problem... or maybe both? ;) I'll add a screen shot of what text-to-text does...
(well I can't add a screen shot right now, IZ attachments service is down or my browser or connexion have hick-up...)
No, it's not an issue of spacing between paragraphs; the issue is that the text of the last line of a single paragraph is aligned vertically within the set line spacing, differently than in all the other lines of that paragraph. I did misunderstand what the text-to-text setting is supposed to do. I understand now: it is supposed to decide how characters of different sizes are aligned vertically with each other. Before, I thought that it was supposed to decide how all the characters, regardless of size, were aligned vertically within the set line spacing. Since the setting is not supposed to do that, we have a different problem on our hands, because it DOES do that. And does so erratically, as I originally noted. Perhaps there should be two separate settings: one for how characters are aligned vertically with each other and another for how they are aligned vertically within the set line spacing.
I think I have to ask an expert in that matter... @MRU: what do you think? ;)
MRU->FME: see attached document. There the "text-to-text" alignment in the paragraph format is used. The last line of every paragraph has a larger line spacing to the upper line than the other ones. It looks, that the text-to-text alignment gets confused by the fixed line spacing which is set to 0,5".
I notice that this has the keyword "needmoreinfo". What info do you need? I would be happy to provide it. John
Removed "needmoreinfo" tag as no additional info has been requested.
