Description tab 2008-12-10 22:04:47 UTC
In HidYes.odt, the @ are CommentChars, hidden (dotted underline). OK.
In HidNo.odt, the @ are also CommentChars, but not hidden (continuous underline)
--they remain displayed if 'NonprintingChars' is turned off.
It's not a matter of display options (Tools->Options->OpenOffice.org
Writer->Formatting Aids->Display), which are the same in both tests.

Comment 3 michael.ruess 2008-12-15 16:32:05 UTC
characters can only be hidden when the attribute "Hidden" is set in
Format.Character dialog. This is not the case in the second document, thus it is
not possible to hide any characters there.
Comment 4 michael.ruess 2008-12-15 16:42:53 UTC
To be more precise, the used character style "Comment char" is overruled by
"Internetlink" because it will be used for formatting this as hyperlink. You can
change this by not using this for the @@ characters in Format.Character.Hyperlink.
Comment 5 tab 2008-12-20 22:18:33 UTC
Sorry, I don't understand. I found no "Internetlink" style.
--If I highlight @ in HidNo, click Format>character>font effect, Hidden is off.
If I set it on and click OK, it remains unhidden. If I return to
Format>character>font effect, Hidden has been reset to off!
--If I highlight @ in HidYes, click Format>character>font effects, Hidden is on.
What is the difference?
Both files have the same Format.Character.Hyperlink parameters for Visited and
Unvisited links.
Comment 6 michael.ruess 2009-01-29 13:15:01 UTC
MRU->tab: select the @@ and go to Format.Character.Hyperlink and remove the
applied URL (which will remove the overruling "Internet Link" character style.
Then the character hiding will work as you desire.
When having a Hyperlink, a special formating case will be used in Writer.

Closed.
Comment 8 tab 2009-01-31 02:46:54 UTC
MRU: 'select the @@ and go to Format.Character.Hyperlink and remove the
applied URL'
TAB->mru: I don't want to lose the hyperlink; I just don't want it to show in
the printed document.
Why is the same kind (apparently) of hyperlink hidden in HidYes.odt, but not in
HidNo.odt?
Comment 9 michael.ruess 2009-03-17 14:09:11 UTC
Now I come closer to the problem, sorry for inconvenience.

MRU->OS: see the attached HidNo.odt. There are two characters @@ formatted with
the character style "CommentChar" which has "hidden" attribute. But it looks
that the hidden attribute is somehow outruled by the hyperlink formatting.

Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
