Description lendo 2008-12-17 16:22:44 UTC
If the paragraph style of an Index (e.g. Contents 1-10) is capitalized, then the
page numbers become capitalized too. See attached picture.

Expected behavior:
Page numbers (created with Page Layout Settings) should not be touched from
paragraph style font effects (capitals, lower case, title, small capitals) of
Indexes.

Under "Insert - Indexes and Tables - Indexes and Tables - Entries" click on [#]
and define in the drop down listbox "Character style", a style set to "Small Caps".

Thanks for your suggestion. But that doesn't do what I want. "Small caps" are
not "no caps", so there are 2 proposals for solution:

variation 1:
Page numbers (created with Page Layout Settings) should not be touched from
paragraph style font effects (capitals, lower case, title, small capitals) of
Indexes.
Page number styles should take priority over paragraph styles in Indexes.

variation 2:
A new font effect with the name "cancel effects" (or something else) should be
created, which deletes and overwrites the effects (capitals, lower case, title,
small capitals) of paragraph styles.
For simple use, this new character style could be part of the standard character
style set in "Styles and Formatting", so that a user has not to create this
style manually.

Huh, sorry!

Character style "lowercase" / "Gemeine" (what a self-explanatory name for this
in German) is the solution for variatio 2. So this works so far.

But is this not only a workaround and not a "worksforme"?

So I would suggest to implement variation 1, because that meets the requirements
of users. Isn't this a (small) usability issue?

Reassigned to requirements.
An exception has to be implemented, which ignores the character effect for page
number characters in TOCs.
