Description eric.savary 2009-01-31 17:54:07 UTC
Notice:
I found this trying to reproduce issue 98673 in DEV300m39.
The present issue blocks issue 98673 which is based on OOo 3.0 (m9)

Noted below, multiple bugs which may have the same root cause...

Description:
1) new text document
2) "Window - New window"
3) place the to views of the same document side by side
4) insert a note in window 1
(it also appears on window 2 -> ok)

BUG 1: it doesn't matter where you actually set the cursor (windows 1 or 2), it
blinks in the note on windows 2.

5) Type something in the note

BUG 2: the text only appears in the window which has the cursor.

6a) click in the text body of the document which doesn't have the cursor (and
where the note is empty)

BUG 3: the note disappears from both windows!

6b) instead of 6a), click in the note which is empty and write soemthing

BUG 4: both windows have notes with different texts. Only 1 version will be kept
on saving

Reassigned.

@MOD: I don't know if the "2+ windows document view" has been specified and has
a solid concept. Other weird things happen with the notes in this mode.

Some things I still didn't test further but that we can track (Other issues!):
- repaint problems when zooming in 1 window
- ability to switch the notes off in window 1 -> notes in window 2 are still
visible but the the notes pane disappeared.

Another bug in this issue:

* Zoom layout options affects both windows.

Please see the attached picture to view the controls I am talking about.
Comment 5 max.odendahl 2009-02-10 19:36:37 UTC
mod->motoster: not related to notes, please create a new issue for this
Comment 6 max.odendahl 2009-03-03 13:49:11 UTC
bug 2,3,4 fixed
Comment 7 max.odendahl 2009-03-03 14:47:16 UTC
bug 1 found and fixed as well

remaining issue:

- ability to switch the notes off in window 1 -> notes in window 2 are still
visible but the the notes pane disappeared.
Comment 8 max.odendahl 2009-03-05 10:01:31 UTC
mod->es: as this can lead to data loss very easily and is a very easy to fix,
should this be a 3.1 stopper?

would you create new issues for these two?(couldn't reproduce the repaint issue,
would need step by step instruction)
Comment 9 eric.savary 2009-03-05 10:18:01 UTC
Please keep it on 3.2.
Working on 2 views is not often used I think...

I'll re-test the other problems and will write tasks.
Comment 10 eric.savary 2009-03-09 15:57:53 UTC
Filed respectively issue 100054 (repaint problem) and issue 100056 (hidden notes).
Comment 11 max.odendahl 2009-03-10 17:27:45 UTC
fixed in cws notes9

Comment 15 eric.savary 2009-08-26 21:30:26 UTC
@MOD: Bug 2 (the text only appears in the window which has the cursor) is not fixed.

Do you want a task for another CWS or do I reset the CWS to NEW?
(I'd rather reset to NEW because it's a pretty annoying when working with 2
windows that the other one is not synchronized but I am relax on this :) )
Comment 16 max.odendahl 2009-08-26 21:40:50 UTC
mod->es: please test again, it works for me ;-)

Note that the text in the second note is not updated "live" while you type each
character, but as soon as you change formatting, click somewhere else, loose
focus in the note etc.

This happens at the same time when undo as well as navigator text is updated.
Comment 17 eric.savary 2009-08-26 22:36:55 UTC
That's what I meant: "life" for each character.

Do you think you'd be able to fix this one day?

This is not only what the user expects but also consistent with how works in the
document itself (life update). :)
Comment 18 eric.savary 2009-08-26 22:46:34 UTC
Verified in cws notes10
Comment 19 max.odendahl 2009-08-26 22:49:32 UTC
mod->es: this was not part of this issue and CWS, but I can have a look at it
for 3.3.

Sending the characters across is easy, but it needs a closer look for other
stuff involved such as undo handling, e.g. we don't want to have each character
appear on its own inside the undo stack.
Comment 20 eric.savary 2009-08-26 23:01:24 UTC
@MOS: so I can perfectly live with that and will write you an issue for 3.3 :)
