while assigning a new symbol of the main toolbar in the writer or calc 
application the application crashs reproduceable with an "application error" :(
The crash happens whenever one chooses a new symbol with the symbol browser.
I tested this reproduceable on two different WinME machines.

unsinstall completly OOo and reinstall it. try the current developper
build (643C). I can'at reproduce this at all.

I use a Win98 machine and can reproduce this error with the current stable release.

Same problem occures here on Win98SE, both on OO 1.0.2 and 1.0.3.
Anytime you want to customize your symbol-bars and you try select a
new symbol (added before in  \share\config\symbol\) or browse in the
existing symbols to the end of the list, OO crashes, doesn't matter in
which application.
Solution urgent needed.

I tried today with 1.0.3 (german version) and WIN98SE.


1. open new writer-document
2. right mouseclick on freee space on toolbar
3. select "visible Icon" (or so, I do not know exact translation for 
   english version)
4. click "ZoomE
   expected: Writer will crash   ;-)
   actual: zoom-Icon was added as hope

Might be that that problem only happens if the list contains
self-created Icons?

I confirm. I have the same problem on my W98 machine with OO 1.0.3.1
I don't even need to choose an icon to get an "Application Error". I
just go and browse the different icons and then it crashes. However,
this bug is kinda weird as I cannot tell exactly how to reproduce it
from one installation to another. The only thing I know is that it
crashes often when trying to reassign a new icon to a button. I don't
have self created icons. 
Looks like W98 is involved in this behaviour, isn't it ?

Looks like lots of people have confirmed it's a crash in 1.0.3.
Can those people try it in 1.1beta2 and verify whether that
fixes it?  I certainly can't reproduce this in 1.1beta2.

I think we should close that issue, seems to be solved in 1.1.
If someone still sees the problem, the issue can be reopened

If I will not see any further action as votes, attachments or
confirmations, I will have to close this issue 2003-10-31 as WFM.
