Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 99689
calc decimal separator and thousand separator BUG
Last modified: 2012-01-28 14:18:53 UTC
1) still it is not possible to explicitly set decimal and thousand separators. 2) still checkbox "same as locale setting" present and makes uncertainty when its not checked - what then - not the same as locale setting? something else from some place? Latvian language also contains space as thousand separator and comma as decimal - it is not correct for most of users in Latvia. As there are always numerous preferences, please fix it at once, its not so complicated thing but causes big problems with calc. This BUG, as I remember, is always discussed from the beginning of OO but never fixed.
@jlods: Please read first http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html This issue: - is not a P1 - has the wrong component - has the wrong subcomponent - addresses a version which is not current (current is 3.0.1 or DEV 3.1) - obviously deals with 2 problems in 1 issue - has a target which shouldn't be set while reporting and a target which doesn't correspond to a valid OOo target but to extensions - refers apparently to a known issue. If this issue is know, comment it but don't open a new one.... For all those reasons this is issue is invalid. I invite you first to use a current version of OOo then explain your problem in the users@lv.openoffice.org and users@openoffice.org mailing lists in order to get an advice from the other users before writing an issue yourself or letting someone else do it.

sure OO has wrong component. As you know for Ubuntu CURRENT version in repositories is 2.4 not 3 as you suggest to use. And none search made available OPEN issue for this problem. I did not wanted to insist but writing in Latvian locale and for numbers using Armenian locale simply is enough so I'd prefer CLOSED resolved to some x.xx version. so make one issue here 1) still it is not possible to explicitly set decimal and thousand separators.
This issue is still invalid. If you have a problem with an Ubuntu version of OOo, file an issue at Unbuntu's site. If you believe it is a problem in the native OOo version, then you *have to* test the current and native OOo version. Else, I don't know what you intend to get fixed in Calc when submitting an issue for the LV component. (@gp_: do you feel concerned about this?) Also you didn't describe the problem precisely and step by step. Last things: as you are apparently new to OOo (this is you first issue) please don't set roadmap related flags ("T" keywords and "Target milestone") Once again, ask the users on the mailing lists first before writing issues.
