Description starrychloe 2009-03-04 02:36:07 UTC
When viewing a document, right clicking a word with a red wavy line will crash
Writer.

Create new document, 'mispell' a word, right click, crash.

No logs apparent. Screenshots to follow.

I checked with "Ooo 3.0.1 (DE) Multilingual version English UI WIN XP:
[OOO300m15 (Build 9379)], installed zh-CN, activated Asian languages" and can
NOT confirm the reported effect.

@starrychloe:
Please attach a sample document.
Can you please also check with CALC and DRAW?
Comment 9 thomas.lange 2009-03-04 08:18:28 UTC
tl->starrychloe: Also please go to the extension manager and disable the
extension pack for your language. Then have some text set to French or Spanish
and see if misspelled words will crash the office in those languages as well.
If not the problem is with the actual dictionaries and not the spell checker.
In that case you may want to remover that extension and download the latest
dictionaries for your language.

In case you want to try out the latest dictionaries make your choice from one of
the links below.

Comment 10 starrychloe 2009-03-05 21:13:35 UTC
It works in Draw and Calc.
I disabled all extensions, and it still crashed. However there was still a red
wavy line. Apparently you have to disable it, let it crash, then reload it for
it to be truly disabled. Now that it is disabled, there is no wavy line and
right click does not crash it.
Enabled only Spanish extension, exited quickstarter, reloaded document, and it
crashed again.
Here is a sample document.

Comment 12 Rainer Bielefeld 2009-03-06 05:20:09 UTC
Not reproducible for me with "mispelled.odt"
Comment 13 starrychloe 2009-03-07 00:44:12 UTC
Please consider the Pidgin angle.
Comment 14 michael.ruess 2009-03-09 16:28:59 UTC
MRU->SBA: this sounds quite similar to issue 100005, please also care about. Thanks.
Comment 15 starrychloe 2009-03-10 04:49:55 UTC
Yeah! I found it first! I win!
Comment 16 gatis 2009-04-24 03:41:43 UTC
Tried to reproduce the issue in OOo-dev 3.1.0 [(OOO310m7)(build:9393)]. The
issue was not reproducible. Document "mispelled.odt" gave the same results.
Comment 17 starrychloe 2009-04-25 00:15:00 UTC
Did you try installing GTK or aspell that comes with Pidgin?
Comment 18 smith77 2009-05-01 22:21:10 UTC
Tested on built OOo310m7 that runs on hp laptop with vista -was not able to
reproduce.

Tested on the OS Win XP and Build OOo310m7 (Build 9393) ---not able to
reproduce
Comment 20 stefan.baltzer 2009-05-04 07:57:14 UTC
SBA: I can not see any general problem in OOO310_m11 (OOo 3.1 RC2) either.
Spellchecking works in general on all platforms. This is tested automatically on
every build. -> Set issue to "worksforme"

SBA->starrychloe: So far, it looks strongly like that Pidgin software interferes
with the operating system (mouse and keyboard use) in a way that keeps OOo from
working normally. It seems like you are the very only one having this problem.
Please assist to circle this in.

(1) Please tell where you got that "Pidgin", what version of it you run and how
you installed it. It is a client, I believe.

(2) Can you confirm that you see no problem in the Office when that pidgin is
completely switched off?

(3) Did you hear any comments from other pidgin users about problems with any
software?

SBA->starrychloe:
(2) ?
(3) ?
Comment 23 stefan.baltzer 2009-06-15 10:12:52 UTC
Closing issue as Worksforme.
