there is some unused space at the bottom of the screen: bar for the minimized windows and status line. As nobody has
more than 3-5 minimized windows usually it would be nice to have one bar at the bottom instead of two.

All the horizontal space at the bottom of the screen should be shrunk to 
a single bar maybe 20 pixels high or so.  Somewhat the size that Firefox's status bar is.

Especially for people with small laptop screens all that extra space is very noticeable.
