Description Rochelle Raccah 2001-10-25 23:02:32 UTC
The text in the splash screen which changes during startup appears to be
hardcoded to a certain size. This is a problem for accessibility.
Comment 1 Jan Zajicek 2001-10-26 12:23:02 UTC
UI team is now working on accessibility.

I am not sure whether it is important to apply font change also for
the splash screen. What happens when the text is too wide and doesn't
fit into splash size? It is not possible to resize splash manually and
I don't think we should layout splash window according to text size.
Is an information provided at startup so important? I am not able to
read it after startup speed up bcs text is changed so quickly :-)).

Could this issue be re-examined in light of recent
fontsize/resize issues that have been discovered
and fixed ? (also, the Chinese localized product
now can assign global fontsize which is needed to
properly view Chinese; smaller font sizes not clear enough)

Comment 6 Ken Frank 2003-07-08 18:00:45 UTC
re-opening since issue has been pointed out to me
by several people, including those at Chinese l10n.
But this is not for fixing for this release, just for
future.

Perhaps we should provide a way for products to customize the font
name/size/style for the running text on the splash screen. It should
not be inherited from -fontsize flag, but rather carefully chosen to
make sure that text in zh locale will be readable to majority of users
(probably just be setting the size to 14pt). The whole splash image
must take this into account and may even need to be retouched for zh
locale

Planned for promo-D.
Comment 9 David Simonek 2004-02-25 17:05:45 UTC
Trung, you are right and you even did do it two years ago for font
size! Why you didn't tell me! :-) Now I just added
SplashRunningTextFontSize=12 value into org.netbeans.core.Bundle, so
that it's discoverable along other Splash branding values. Fixed.
