Hi,

It would be very good to separate somehow tabs of opened files by projects, as its done in Opera Browser (drag tab to add to the separate bucket).

Regards,

It is true I found a similar feature quite useful in UltraEdit where the tabs were colored according to file type. Some way of visual grouping of opened tabs according to Project would probably make things easier when lots of files are opened at once.

Reassigning to Rich for expert opinion.

Grouping of tabs, sure. By color, not as the primary indication of category (I'm colorblind, so I'm never going to advocate for this). We could group them by dragging one tab onto another and then popping a dialog, titled "Create Tab Category", with a textbox for the Category name. This is ala IOS folder creation, so it's becoming a recognizable convention for lumping items together.

How would you propose visually separating the groups in the tabstrip? Would you make multiple rows of tabs, one for each group?

Hi,

Simple grouping would be great, you drag a tab on another tab and then those two create a group-tab. Dragging third tab on that group-tab would add that tab to it.

A group-tab has an arrow icon to merge (hide, shrink) tabs inside.
After the tabs inside a group-tab have been merged (shrinked), the group-tab has another icon to enable unshrinking them again.

With such thing as mentioned above would be lovely that tabs from different projects would group automatically into group-tabs.

Rows of tabs per project?
