The ability to have multiple projects open at the
same time would be nice feature.

Also Forte is slow when switching between projects.  It would be nice
to have the ability to switch more easily and quickly between
projects.

The editor can not do that. AFAIK, there are people working on this
feature.

Passing to Projects team - there is hard work on new projects
implementation at this time.

Yes, this will be possible in new projects implementation, target 
milestone adjusted according to expected time frame when new 
implementation should be done.
