Currently when I click and drag a tab of the editor next to another tab it is only possible to move tabs between the currently visible once left and right. However it would be a great addition to also move tabs further to the left or right, to tabs I can not see in the editor, but which are open. Look at how Firefox (v19) does moving and scrolling of tabs left and right.
In recent dev builds tt's possible to change tab position using keyboard shortcuts (ctrl+shift+alt+left/right). I suppose it's much more convenient and faster than mouse dnd.
Well thats good news, but I do think this should also be possible by dnd (like in firefox) since, honestly, who can really remember all the shortcuts to use. This is especially true if you don't use shortcuts very often (I really try to :)) From a useability point of view it is more natural to use dnd and there the current implementation really feels and is very limited and frustrating ...
