Screenshot of dolphin while running netbeans

I've been using NetBeans since version 8.0.1 and the bug I'm describing here was in that version and still exists in 8.1.

I'm using Linux Slackware_64 14.1 with KDE and the latest Java runtime from Oracle.

When I was using NetBeans 8.0.1 or 8.0.2 the bug caused other and unrelated KDE programs' GUI to look scrambled, but only after a little while, not at first.

For instance, after NetBeans had been running for say 15 minutes and KDE had to display a tooltip notification above the system tray it would look all garbled up or not display text. Opening a file in KWrite would shift all text beyond the left boundary of the window rendering the program near useless. I use dolphin as my file manager, trying to find a file with it would become tedious because dolphin would cease to clear the background before drawing its icons. Scrolling in it redraws the icons on top of other icons that remain drawn on their original place, text becomes unreadable. When locking the screen, all text normally displayed is not drawn and the screen keeps flickering about once or twice every second.

I never reported the issue because I thought someone would pick it up and it'd be fixed on the next update. When NetBeans 8.1 came out I raised my hopes because the issue appeared to be fixed. Not really so. I had downloaded the version with all supported languages, and only enabled C++ and PHP. With only these two languages the bug had no effect. But then I recently reran the installer and added Java language support because I had need for it. I did my work, and the bug became effective again, just as described for previous versions. Closing all Java projects does not resolve the issue. Closing NetBeans however does. Also, a dolphin window already open before NetBeans was started will not be tainted. Any new KDE program started afterwards, while NetBeans is running, is.

I forgot to add, when the forementioned happens, my sound device stops working also. I cannot use any player to get sound out of my speakers until I close NetBeans.

I didn't see such interference with system components myself.
Can you please attach the messages.log file?

Can you also try to change the NetBeans' L&F? IMHO this is a fault of the L&F.

Didn't you see this issue with other Java GUI applications?

I got following message from the submitter:

"I downloaded 8.1 again and this time it no longer exhibits this bug.
I was using the KDE version as included in Slackware 14.1. I have since July upgraded to 14.2 and am now using the latest stable version of KDE4 which was bundled."

Most probably, I think, this was GTK L&F or KDE issue.
