example of crash

This is exactly the same behavior as in Bug 179348 which was related to NB6.8, all system windows related to explorer make java crash

I'm running a NetBeans 8.2 and it suddenly stopping to work ... I suspect there was some kind of java update, so I tried to reinstall and uninstaller and installer both also crash...

After I start up the IDE, the IDE crashes (vanishes from the screen) if I select (1) File menu, Open Project; or (2) File menu, File Open; or (3) select Tools menu, Java Platform, Javadoc, Add ZIP/Folder. It appears that any file selector box causes the IDE to crash.

I am seeing this with Win10 Pro Version 1709 (build 16299.19) - though it was exhibiting the behavior before this update. Same behavior with many JDKs:

There is no useful diagnostic information in var/log - it just hangs at the file dialog.

Any workaround would be greatly appreciated!

In my case, this was caused by a disconnected network drive (connection error).

Reconnecting the network drive fixed the issue.

Happens to me too. Is there anything I could contribute from the event logger? I'd really like to get to the bottom of this...
