This format works:
   <indexitem text="Java Developer Kit" >
      <indexitem text="(See JDK)" > </indexitem>
   </indexitem>

But with this format:
   <indexitem text="Java Developer Kit" >
      <indexitem text="(See JDK)" />
   </indexitem>

selecting the closing </indexitme> tag highlights the <indexitem text="(See
JDK)" /> tag.
