Description the_raj 2006-04-02 23:11:35 UTC
Hi,

I've just installed Netbeans IDE with JDK5 on SUSE 10 and have been trying to
get it to run. I keep getting a message to set jdkhome. I've tried to do so but
with no success. On the forums there is a message saying to set a line to set in
the conf file. I have checked this too and everything appears correct (i.e
pointing to the right directory with JDK in), but I still get the message to use
jdkhome.

Please advise.

Raj

Exact message is: Cannot find java. Please use the --jdkhome switch.

Exact line in netbeans.conf is: netbeans_jdkhome="/opt/jdk1.5.0_06"

These appear to be correct.

I don't know what to do now to get it to work.

Please advise.

Raj

I have also posted this issue to the mailing list as well. However my case is
running a platform application. The only way I can get it to run is a command
line call myapp.exe --jdkhome "../jre"

This problem exists on windows. It appears that the the netbeans.exe works fine
with an updtate to netbeans_jdkhome as long as its the proper jdk and on windows.

Does it work if you pass --jdkhome switch on command line? What command are you
exactly running and what is the output? Which netbeans.conf did you modify? Is
there '/opt/jdk1.5.0_06/bin/java' executable that can executed as a JVM?

We cannot resolve this without additional information? Did you checked
permisions? Can you run other Java applications using this JDK?

Cannot fix without additional input
