I closed a tab in the output window and suddenly NetBeans did not react 
anymore. In the log files I saw *a lot* of ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsExceptions.

There are two harmless exceptions from form module at the start of the log 
file, but they are not related to the described problem. Note that the first 
was thrown at 12:02 and the second at 1:37. The reported problem occured at 
1:46 as can be seen from the tons of exceptions (from the output window) at the 
end of the log file => reassigning to core/output.

i suppose you were using a jdk 1.6 build?

looks like aq duplicate of #75955, should be fixed/workarounded in trunk and 5.5
branch.
