Description flandor 2005-03-18 03:52:45 UTC
It was a two column table in writtien in msWord saved in an RTF format. Created
and edited in Windows XP on PCs.

I was in the right hand column and every time I would try to slect part of a
paragraph, I would drag the curosr over the text. Then I would drag it back a
certain amount. If I went all the way to the end of the paragraph accidentaly,
it would not let me pull the highlighting back; I would have to start
highlighting all over again.

I cannot attach the document because it is confidential...sorry.

Now I see, where the problem is...

In Writer, it is not possible to select text across table cell's borders. This
will always change to select whole cells.
Maybe a Key setting like Shift-dragging could give such a selection option in a
table.

This may be true, I have long since uninstalled this version. However, this is
not the problem I was reporting. The problem I was speaking of was that I could
not pull the highlighting back if I went to the top of the table, not across a
table. It is not that it would not go over a border it is just that it seemed
to be getting "stuck" at the top.

summary should be changed to something like:

selecting text in cell borders makes selected the whole cell

and than it's impossible to make the selection smaller (unselect the first/ last
word(s)), because shift+arrow-right/left will select the neighbor-cells instead
of reduce the selected text...)

Issue 51475 and issue 45890 seem to be the same (and to be real duplicates of
this one, issue 45348) but issue 58477 and 60612 seem to be something (but the
same) else!

Hmm, my report was a BUG (not a wish) that is not possible to select table and
(external) text while it is possible to select (external) text and table.
Is this is really a duplicate?
