Description g.marxen 2009-06-01 00:48:23 UTC
There is a bug in OOo 3 (tested under Win XP Pro SP3) when changing the view layout:

If you change per click in the status bar from single page to book mode or
column view (2 pages), the following happens (details i.e. page numbers by
Stefan Weigel):

Single side pages shown after switching to book/Column mode

Cursor in page 1              pages 1, 2
Cursor in page 2              pages 2, 3
Cursor in page 3              pages 4, 5
Cursor in page 4              pages 6, 7
Cursor in page 5              pages 8, 9
Cursor in page 4              pages 6, 7
...
Cursor in page 25             pages 48, 49

and vice versa.

Also:

If you open a second window with the same document, the view is changed in both
windows. This also seams to be a bug.

I can confirm this with OOo 3.0.1 and OOo 3.1.0 using Windows 2000.

@es

The problem is *not* related to a special document. However, I will attach some
ODT file as requested.

Just set your cursor to any page, let´s say page number 10, and change the view
from single page to multiple pages and back.

Cannot reproduce this problem on Vista neither with 3.0.1 nor 3.1rc2.

The pages switch from:
Single side pages shown after switching to book/Column mode
                                            Or, depending of the zoom factor:
Cursor in page 1              pages 1, 2    pages 1, 2, 3
Cursor in page 2              pages 3, 4    pages 4, 5, 6
Cursor in page 3              pages 5, 6

@SBA: Please take over...
Comment 6 Stefan Weigel 2009-06-18 09:02:10 UTC
@es: I think, actually you *did* reproduce the problem.

<quote es>
Single side pages shown after switching
Cursor in page 3              pages 5, 6
</quote>

Well, this exactly *is* the problem.

It becomes worse the higher the page numbers are. For example, please try cursor
in page 25.

I also can reproduce the problem. When having single page layout view, in a
10page document position cursor on page 6, click on Book layout view -> page 8/9
are now shown.

This issue also exists in AOO 4.1.0 RC2 German. (Win 7 Pro x64)

When being in "page view" (German: Seitenansicht) The "buttons" in the status line don't work. (Perhaps better not to show them.)

But in the "Search menu bar" (German: "Ansicht, Symbolleisten, Suchen") the dialog "Page view: multiple pages" (German: "Seitenansicht: Mehrere Seiten") is OK.

Is this menu "File" - "Page Preview"?
If so, your descriptions means:

- select menu "File" - "Page Preview"
- in the status bar, the "View Layout" control is visible, but it does nothing; on the contrary, the Zoom Slider control works.

Is this the "Find" toolbar? If so, your description is:

- select the menu "View" - "Toolbas" - "Find" in oder to make the "Find" toolbar visible
- in this toolbar, all controls are enabled, though searching does not work.

If I understood you correctly, then I can confirm both observations, but how are they related to this bug?
It seems both should be reported in separated bugs.

Hi Ariel,

> Is this the "Find" toolbar? If so, your description is:

No, I was wrong. The "Customise Toolbar" Dialog shows the name "Page Preview". The toolbar opens automatically.

> It seems both should be reported in separated bugs.

You are right (see issue 124664).
