Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 103531
EPS rendering very slow while scrolling
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:15:28 UTC
Whenever an odt contains a Simple Vector Graphic file (.svg), rendering of the document takes extraordinary long. I have setted up in settings (i am using italian version, dunno the exact translation) - 256MB of memory usage for graphics - 5MB for single image (svg take at most 1MB) - 2h for cache expiration 2 or 3 object are kept in cache, but when i scrolls to the page containing the svg it takes about 5s to 15s to display the graphic, freezing the whole application (Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2400 Ghz, 4GB RAM, Linux Debian Lenny i386). Maybe this is related to BUG: 77068 bye d.
rocco83, please attach a sample file so that we can reproduce the problem here. Thanks for supporting us!

There are no SVG files in the document, only svm (which do not make problems) and EPS graphics. MRU->OD: you need an EPS viewer installed on your system. On SunRay there is one by default... Then you can see, that when scrolling through the document it needs longer and longer, every time a new graphic is being displayed. I checked it with OOo 3.1 and 300m52 on SunRay.
i have checked: all the files i have used are in SVG. dunno which process OOo do to import svg, but sources was svg. do you need them? "EPS rendering very slow while scrolling" is bug 77068. maybe this bug could be "bug in how OOo import SVG"?
Thank you, I'm glad to see this issue receiving attention. I use OO extensively and this makes it UNUSABLE. I have to switch to version 2.0.xxx to write talks. Thank you for taking a look at this.
@rocco83: bug 99537 looks like the same issue, too.
I have seen similar problems in LibreOffice. I've posted the details here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41407
