Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 113918
symbols on top like "vec" are not displayed properly in formula editor
Last modified: 2010-08-18 09:27:26 UTC
"vec F" does not display the arrow and only shows a box om top of the variable F in Font "liberation sans"(applies also to other symbols on top). Worked in OO 3.3.0 m2, no more in m3 and m4.
Created attachment 71129 [details] formula not displayed properly
Cannot confirm this with m4. Please check if the new OpenSymbol font (version 2.3.9) is correctly installed on your system.
It happens also with arial, times new roman and any other font I tried so far. Cannot imagine that all are all of the sudden incorrectly installed. Anyhow - formulae are properly displayed in m2 on my systems. Maybe the problem is linux specific. I am working under ubuntu lucid.
Does it work better using "widevec B" ? (I always prefer use widevec instead of vec)
widevec doesn't work either. Seems to aplly to all symbols on top and all fonts I have tried so far. Anyhow, a workaround is no option since I have tons of lecture-presentations containing formulae(for teaching physics). My "workaround" is to stick to OO3.2 for the time being, till this gets straightened out.
Opening your document works correctly on my machine, so maybe you need to install some fonts ? (mostly truetype, so including truetype font server too imho ) HTH
This reminds me of the symptoms seen when issue 113586 happened: if an older version of OpenSymbol (than 2.3.9 which got introduced with issue 105084, issue 105085 and issue 106815) was installed system-wide then the corrected unicode codepoints for math symbols such as the vector arrow were not available. The fastest solution would be to remove the system-wide OpenSymbol font. What system are you on? WIN, UNX or MAC? If you are on WIN remove it from c:\windows\fonts\ A similiar solution would be to update the system-wide OpenSymbol with the up-to-date version shipped with OOo. The best solution would be if issue 113586 was solved so that the installer took care of such conflicting files... *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 113586 ***
