Description Kevin Chilton 2014-02-04 11:20:37 UTC
I have some sxw files that when opened have the Outline numbering reset, Level 1 to paragraph style Text Body and the rest to none.

I have tried resetting the Outline Numbering to the correct Headings and saving the file, but when I re-open the file the Outline numbering is reset again.

When I link the file into a master document the Outline numbering appears correctly in the document but when I generate a TOC, every paragraph in the file is listed.

I tried the solution proposed in the solution to Bug 27534 - Outline numbering on custom heading styles not retained, but this does not seem to work either.

I have attached an example document.

Thank you
Can not reproduce.
Comment 7 Kevin Chilton 2014-02-05 11:36:14 UTC
The problem has escalated. Now, when I create a new file completely from scratch, with Outline numbering set correctly, the Outline numbering is reset when I save and re-open.

I have tried uninstalling OO and re-installing it, but the problem persists.

Are there some files that are not cleared during uninstall?

Can you please give a step by step description of what you do to observe the bug?

Comment 10 Kevin Chilton 2014-02-06 11:20:52 UTC
I open the template file (see attachment) check that the Outline numbering is set correctly (Before image), add some headings and text and save the file as an sxw. When I re-open the file the Outline settings have been reset (after Image).

Hi, After extensive research, one of the culprits seems to be the outline numbering character styles imported from Microsoft (WM***). However even when I delete them all from the document, the resetting problem still remains.

I have finally identified the problem. It is the ms word styles imported into the swx files. If you identify the style that is replacing the expected Outline number, clear the formatting for all the contents tagged with this style and then apply the style from the swx paragraph catalog, the problem is solved.
