Description sander_traveling 2001-08-07 11:49:57 UTC
The source browsing link from the download page points to an extremely
non-functional page where instead of top level diretories all links are '/' and
point back to openoffice.org

Hi,

Putting up a static page has been proposed as a workaround for this
problem. If this would be acceptable further details and assistance
can be provided.

Thank you
Kat

I really think the code browing via web should work, so if a static
starting page (Q: how can we make sure it doesn't get too out of date)
is what it takes it, then we obviously have to go that they.

Reassigning to Louis for further action.

PCN 5347 is still being worked on. I just queried its status.
A static page is okay--Kat means a static URL for each instance. I think instructions will also work.

But, it strikes me that the only reason this is an issue to begin with is because we are using legacy stuff from Tigris. SC has a feature at the top navbar: Source Code. Click on it. It takes you to the Source Code page. There is a link: "Browse". This allows you to browse the source code as God meant you to.

A better solution is to eliminate the legacy links.

Hi,

In SourceCast1.2.1 a change has been made with regard to the
permissioning system so that there is a listing of projects shown that
the user has access to.
This functionality will be made available when the site is upgraded to
the mentioned version of SourceCast.

Thank you
Kat

I really can't see why source brwosing - just the way most projects
have it can't just work, without needing any kind of login or similar.
Comment 13 lsuarezpotts 2002-03-06 08:31:09 UTC
actually this was fixed 12/14 but is being retested now with the
upgraded version. It works on stage01 and will work with the
production box.

I just tried (link from: Help->CVSWeb source code browsing):

http://www.openoffice.org/source/browse/

I see only '/'s . Lots of them.
Comment 16 lsuarezpotts 2002-04-05 17:29:58 UTC
well, you're right. But that's not the right url to use.
The way I tested it...
1. go to left navbar
2. click on "projects"
3. pick any project
4. go to project's top navbar
5. click on "source code"
6. click on "browse source code online" (it's at the top of the
page)
7. a list of all cvs modules will be represented.

just clicking on the url you have won't do anything unless you
specify the actual module. So, to look at the www module, which
is the website, you would need "http://www.openoffice.org/
source/browse/www/".
and voila, that works.

Now, as to the link in the documentation that gives the wrong url,
that's another issue that should be filed. For using source
browsing from the *proper* locale works.

and as to the problem, fixed the link from the Help pages so that
it goes to the www/www directory, just for fun.

I really would like to see the "enhancement" (we had in Tigris) to
browse the full CVS tree and not only per project.
Comment 19 stx123 2002-04-10 19:59:52 UTC
Status whiteboard says "sc1.2".
Comment 20 lsuarezpotts 2002-04-11 02:30:07 UTC
Yes.
1.2, which will supposedly give us this *enhancement* :)
cheers,
Louis
Comment 21 stx123 2002-06-06 01:03:48 UTC
As there seems to be no SC1.2 planned could you please update the Status
Whiteboard accordingly?
Comment 22 Unknown 2002-06-06 22:31:55 UTC
Updating Whiteboard. This issue is addressed in 2.0 and all subsequent
and related releases.
