Using Writer with Asian language support enabled 
on Languages under Language Settings in Options 
of Tools menu, commas and periods change into 
Japanese commas and periods if you change the text 
direction from horizontal to vertical on Page tab in
Page settings of Format menu.
(When Japanese fonts are used, for example, 
MS P Mincho on Windows, Kochi Mincho on Linux.)
This doesn't occur on 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3 and 644m11,
but does occur on 644m7, 1.1beta, 1.1beta2.
