Description lsuarezpotts 2003-06-06 19:39:24 UTC
Hi
as a step to limit spam feeding, I'd like to see if we can somehow munge mail headers in the
mailing lists and archives; or at least the archives. The idea is that it could be toggled on or off
domain-wide, depending on the circumstances.

thanks
louis

Louis:
Is this something that should happen to the current release, and if so
in what timeframe?
I need to know the perspective in relation to any upgrade plans. Thanks

hi,
I doubt it if will fit into 2.6 but if it can, great. It's not a p1 or p2 but rather addresses
a lingering problem. I know that CollabNet has discussed versions of this but I don't
know the status of those dicussions. Ideally, then, 2.6; if not, then sometime shortly
after, in Q4, say.
thanks

an enhancement request has been filed previously as PCN 17299. I will
add OOo's interest in that issue and track it accordingly

Update: This issue has not yet been assigned a target milestone.
Action Plan: Added more details to the internal issue and requested an
update.
Next Update: As soon as we have more information from Product Management.

we are considering using a spam filter so that spammers taking addresses from archives won't be
able to spam the unwary innocent.

Marking resolve w/later: for a later version of SourceCast

Louis, a SPAM filter for incoming messages to someone@openoffice.org is
independent of the mangling of the From: header in the mailing list archve.
One protects our @openoffice.org addresses. But this issue asks for a protection
of our originating home addresses.
Please update Status Whiteboard if a target milestone has been determined.
Comment 8 Unknown 2004-02-09 20:28:51 UTC
Update: This enhancement request is being considered for a future release,
and a tentatively target milestone has been assigned. Note: This is being
considered for a future build, but not the next build, so we did not change
the target milestone field in this issue.

Action Plan: CollabNet Support will continue to monitor the issue regularly.
Next Update: An update will be provided when changes occur.
Comment 9 Unknown 2004-02-09 20:35:21 UTC
Update status to resolved, later.
Comment 10 stx123 2004-03-22 16:10:10 UTC
For technical reasons we have to move the issue to another subcomponent tan 'www'.
Sorry for bothering you with this generated notification message. There is no
need for any action from yor side.
Thanks for your understanding, Stefan

reopening.

In IZ http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=29737, which I marked duplicate, raghuchat
wonders:
"I am subscribing to the users@openoffice.org. When a mail is sent to the id it
is redistributed to all subscribers. i find that the mails recd are having the
original mail id of the user who originated the mail. In the current scenario
where one is bombarded with Spam, wont it be prudent to hide the mail id of the
person initiating the mails."

This would be a good addition to the new communication tools architecture that
is under development for Shasta. So this will be considered for that release.

So currently moving this to resolved later queue.
