Product Requirement Easier way to add tables and manipulate tables Customer Need/Problem Difficulty inserting tables into SO/OOo Writer documents. Product Concept Inserting a table in Writer is sometimes a quite abstract task. There is no visual support to the user only a single dialogue ('Insert - Table') that requires the input of abstract row and column numbers. There are two approaches to make table insertion easier: Offer the user an icon that auto-expands to as many rows and columns as user user desires by dragging them with the mouse. Releasing the mouse-button will insert the table with exactly this row and column number (see analogy to 'Page Preview -> functionality of the 'Multiple Pages' icon) Offer a 'table-draw' functionality. While 1) is with the current table implementation's boundaries 2) is an enhanced feature that must be covered by the new table implementation. BTW: It might be useful to re-think the default row and column numbers, currently 5 columns and only 2 rows) Additionally, a new Table menu makes the table commands more obvious and easier to access.
