Description kelvine 2004-01-05 11:12:37 UTC
Hi,

I was changing a web page and I noticed the following strange behaviour.

I went to edit the contents of the Marquee (Text Animation) to change the
text. It went black when I started to type making it impossible to edit.

I have isolated the issue as far as I can.

When editing the text in a Text Animation as soon as one goes to type the
entire contents of the text line becomes the same as the background or I think
black if the background is a graphic. This makes it very difficult to edit.

Attached is a MarqueeIssue.html file which shows the behaviour. Also attached
is a screen dump MarqueeIssue.png which shows what the screen looks like.

1. Open the MarqueeIssue.html file in Html Editor
2. Click once on the yellow area to select the Marquee
3. Double click on the selected area to edit the Marquee
4. Click the mouse just before the word "Try".
5. Press any key to type.

The entire line goes black making it near impossible to read the contents of
the Marquee and edit it.

Testing I have done to isolate the problem shows the colour which appears is
the background colour for the page and not just black.

I only found this problem as it made working with the Marquee (Text Animation)
very difficult.

Hope this helps.

Kelvin

Hi,

I don't quite understand the logic of making this a duplicate of 24100.

Issue 24100 has to do with leaving junk on the screen with the scrolling text.

This issue is about the background colour taking over the editing area making
it impossible to edit the text in the text box.

Perhaps the title of the issue could have been better worded.

Thanks

Kelvin

Oops! Sorry!
Well, can you still reproduce this in OOo 1.1.1?
I can edit the frame without problem in OOo 1.1.1 and 680m37 on Linux Win2k and XP

Hi,

I just retested this using teh MarqueeIssue.html file on two computers. One
Win XP Pro with OO1.1.0 and the other with WinXP Home with OO1.1.1.

The problem was reproducible on both.

Interesting that you can't reproduce it.

Let me know if there is anything else which might make our systems different.

I did find having the developer version and a live version at one stage gave
conflicting results with another issue in the past. That is why I now only run
with one version of OO on a computer when testing. Unlikely to be related in
this situation but I thought I would mention it.

Thanks

Kelvin

SBA->ES: I could reproduce it with OOo 1.1.1 and 680m45 on Windows 2000. While
editing, the page background colour is used for "Highlighting". I tried green
instead of black as background and the dark blue text was readible while
editing.
I adjusted the summary according to findings. Easy workaround -> Prio changed
to P4.

(I have to close and reopen to get NEW instead of STRTED...)

ES->AMA: it's about the colour of the Selection/background of the edit engine.
