Description erikanderson3 2004-03-26 02:25:58 UTC
Inserting a linked section into a document disables the Undo function.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Create a simple Writer doc.
2. Select some text, and click "Insert -> Section". Leave all defaults as-is
and click the "Insert" button.

Note -- this only defines a section, which does not kill Undo.

3. Save the document.
4. Move the cursor somewhere else in the document.
5. Click "Insert -> Section" and check Link. For "File name", click the "..."
button and navigate to the current document. Under "Section", choose the
section defined in the previous step. Click the "Insert" button.
6. Click on the "Edit" menu, and verify that the Undo function is greyed out,
and the text displays "Can't Undo".

Frequency: All the time.

Expected Behavior: Any operation on the file should be Undo-able.

I reproduced the steps written by erikanderson3.

All works as specified up to point 5. There, in the last sentence, where
instructions say “Click the 'Insert' buttonâ€, OOo pops up a warning window
saying that inserting a link would remove the content of the section involved.
And that seems correct to me: you cannot create two sections with the same name
in the same document.

OS: Windows XP Pro
OOo ver: 1.1.1 ITA

Judgment: for me, problem does not exist.

Paolo ->

I'm confused. I just reproduced my steps on 1.1.1 using Mandrake 10, and got the same
results I did the first time using 1.1.0 on Win2K.

Plus, I don't know what you mean about two sections with the same name. The first one
is automatically named Section 1, while the second one is automatically named Section 2,
so there are not two sections with the same name...?

In Step 5 of my bug directions:
> Under "Section", choose the
> section defined in the previous step.
By this, I don't mean to give the new section the same title, as shown in the box in the
upper left of the dialog, but rather to choose Section 1 in the drop-down list visible
directly under the File Name box on the right of the dialog. Does this help you to
reproduce the "no undo" problem?

Because of a shortage of resources we have to retarget this issue to OOo later.
