Description nunotavares 2004-05-17 22:22:51 UTC
Why isn't Hyperlink allowed in Custom Index?

To fix #29278, what I do is to build the main index (with chapter titles with
StyleA), and immediatelly after, build a Custom Index (with chapter titles with
StyleB, which is graphically identical to StyleA). The problem is that
all "main" Index entries are hyperlinked, but I can't do that to the Custom
Index entries.

MRU->ES: please evaluate before reassigning to bh.

ES->nunotavares: as stated in issue 29278, IssueZilla is not the place for
question. Please read the issue guidlines:

http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html

Nevertheless, your enhancment proposal is valid.

ES->BH: it should be possible to format an user-defined index with hyperlink
just like a table of contents.

I'm not sure hyperlinking indexes entries is the solution as an index entry is
only referenced once in the indexes but can be reference multiple times in a
document. For example you may want to create a glossary for the index entry
"OpenOffice.org" using the "OOo" as a key. The index entry creation process is
explained in the « abbreviation index » topic at
<http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=10147>.

So my idea would be to hyperlink the references, not the entries from the
indexes. It's a bit out of topic but the current hyperlink features doesn't
allow to reference an index entry so we can't make the references hyperlinked
manually.

IMHO the only solution to allow hyperlinks in user-defined indexes would be to
make the page numbers clickable, not the index entry itself. But I still believe
we should be able to get both of worls : hyperlinked references and index entries.

I also need hyperlinks in "Index of Figures" and "Index of Tables". Is there any
technical problem with those two?

I understand that adding this feature to Glossary is not straightforward...

I have the same problem.

I just can't make the page numbers in my document's index into hyperlinks.

Also, there is a problem of multiple occurrences of one word on the same page
(i.e.: the cause of the dreaded "p" symbol which I always disable). One solution
is to make clicking on page number hyperlinks to move the cursor to the first
occurrence of the word on the page in question.

I think that I'd found another possibly duplicated issue. Its number is 61089
with title "Make index page number clickable".

I also need that.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
