Description bostjanv 2004-11-02 15:44:57 UTC
I found two problems; but since they are most probably related, I am filing one
issue. It is best to describe the steps to reproduce the problems.

Problems with separator lines.
"If you type three or more hyphens (---), underscores (___) or equal signs (===)
on line and then press Enter, the paragraph is replaced with a horizontal line
as wide as the page."

I. Cannot delete separator line.
   1. Open new text document
   2. Enter ONE line of text
   3. enter "==="
   4. ENTER key
   (you now have one line followed by separator line)
   5. Try to select all (text plus separator line) and delete. SEPARATOR
      LINE IS NOT DELETED

II.Separator line is deleted when shouldn't have been.
   1. Open new text document
   2. Enter ONE OR MORE lines of text
   3. enter "==="
   4. ENTER key
   (you now have one or more lines followed by separator line)
   2. Enter ONE line of text
   3. enter "==="
   4. ENTER key
   THE FIRST SEPARATOR LINE IS DELETED, AND ONLY THE SECOND REMAINS.

That is no defect, but it needs to be explained. This lines (and the simple
horizontal line, which you get in the "insert" menu) are no graphic-objects but
they are borders of a paragraph. Use the format-menu with that underlined
paragraph and switch off the line in the tab "border". So you can 'delete' such
a line.
If you have more than one such underlined paragraphs immediately following one
another, the border is only shown with the last paragraph.

This issue is invalid. Please file seperate issues for each problem.
Collective issues cannot be handled.
In this case you don't need to file new issues since
* the behaviour is not a bug
* other issues regarding the same topic already exists.

To remove the border: Either remove the paragraph border, or better: assign the
correct paragraph style to the border-paragraph.

regina already explained the behaviour, for more information regarding II. see
issue 17758, for more information regarding I. see issue 21299

closing issue.

Please file seperate issue next time. (You can of course reference the other one
in a comment)

Just a final comment: Thanks to both respondents for pointing out how to solve
my problem(s). However, I still think there is an issue here; namely an issue of
the consistency of the interface. MANY lines + separator line CAN be deleted by
selecting and pressing the DELETE key while ONE line + separator line CANNOT be
deleted by a similar action does not make a consistent interface. But I agree
that such problems should be discussed in a different place.
