Work on PR for 2.0 Beta release has started on pr@marketing.openoffice.org.

Please can you let us know on which platforms and languages OOo 2.0 Beta will be
available.

The md5sums in
http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=releases&msgNo=8309 don't
include PowerPC. So at the moment we are assuming Windows (98/ME/NT/2000/XP),
GNU/Linux (X86) and Solaris (SPARC and X86).

On http://www.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/beta/get.xml SO8 Beta is
available in Brazilian Portugeuse, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish,
and Swedish. Will this be the case for OOo 2.0 Beta?

I'll ask on the QA list too.

Builds for the platforms you mentioned above will be provided by Sun.
With your help we will test and approve the releases for the English version.
The complete list of localized versions Sun will make available as Beta
Candidates is de, es, fr, it, ja, ko, pt-BR, sv, zh-CN, zh-TW. The required
testing for release approval was triggered by your question - thanks Jacqueline.
Additional platforms /languages are welcome to join us (sooner or later :-).
Greetigs, Stefan

(thanks adding me to Cc:)
question

I will provide FreeBSD 5.3 packages as usual, is there a policy
for it? I mean, I would like to upload complete packages rather than language
packs.

thanks!

mh->maho: I consider also to provide the "standard" builds as complete packages
as it is the most convienient way for most users. There is no policy implemented
yet.

The current instructions are here:
http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/instructions.html
I think these will need to remain here for 1.1.x

Where do you suggest we put the new instructions?

The start page for 2.0 Beta is planned for:
http://download.openoffice.org/2.0beta/index.html

Is: http://download.openoffice.org/2.0beta/instructions.html a good spot for the
new instructions?

There are other links on the download page where content needs updating:

http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sys_reqs.html
This page includes links to requirements pages for 1.0 and 1.1. We will need a
2.0 Beta page to link to.

Can we create a 2.0 Beta page from:
http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/sys_reqs_11.html ? I don't know what
has changed or where to find this information. I'm happy to create a page if I
have the information, but it may be quicker for someone who knows what has
changed if anything.

I'll work on the instructions.html in the meantime.

Regards
Jacqueline
