Description ggsiemerink 2005-03-26 06:47:07 UTC
When using remote access, login on my business account, I can't open WORD or
EXCEL documents. I receive a message, translated from dutch it says:
Error 'An API call exited abnormally'
In case of saving the file and opening it with open office 1.9.87 there's no
problem. Even so with MS office 2003.
In case of opening with MSIE 6.0 I got the annoying error.
I'm using Windows XP prof

Sounds like OOo crashes while loading the file in the Active-X control. Does it
happen with all files?
Besides that the description is not very helpful.
Comment 2 mikhail.voytenko 2005-05-23 14:52:37 UTC
Actually the message does not mean that the office crashes, It just means that
the document can not be loaded by the office for any reason.

The ActiveX control is not registered for MSOffice documents any more starting
from build SRC680m89. So in the final version the described problem just can not
happen at all, an MSOffice document is just downloaded by the browser and opened
by OOo2.0 without using ActiveX control.

Thus please try to reproduce the problem using OOo document. If the problem is
reproducible with an OOo document, before sending the issue back please check
whether the account you use is accessed by using "https:" protocol, in this case
the problem is covered by the issue 20049.

Too much issues for 2.0.1
Comment 4 christianjunker 2005-07-04 18:18:31 UTC
There is a working solution for that problem, because I have already seen this
problem coming up many times.
Just search through oooforum.org for how to fix it on your system. I even think
it's a platform issue rather than an OOo issue.
Due to closing in my opinion..
