Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50694
Unable to search for default format (asian text)
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:25:41 UTC
In the find and replace feature, to my understanding, we should be able to find characters by the format of fonts. However, unless the character is using a format other than the default, the find function is unable to find it and therefore is not able to replace it. For example, the default western text is set to Times New Roman and the Asian text is set to MSSong, than any search for Times New Roman or MSSong will not yield any result. Also search for Typeface regular will not find anything. When the text is change to italic, a search on Typeface italic will find the text.
Reassigned to SBA.
To search for formattting defined in styles (including default style), you have to check "[x] including styles" as well. -> worksforme. (If you want to change the font, it's probably better to just adapt the style instead of applying the new font manually)
closing issue. Feature present and working. Also note: Plese *do not* use "current" as version, always name the actual version you're using.
I think you have misunderstood me. We may have two different fonts set in the default style, one for western text, and the other the Asian text. As in my previous example, we are unable to find just the text using the default Asian font for example. In a forum discussion, we find that we are unable to find and thus remove Chinese Characters using the default font. In your suggestion, you will find all the texts in both the default fonts. I think the find function should not be restricted by our technical defination of format or style. The function Find should enable us to find whatever that is definable. Should we reopen the issue?
No, I understood you. But I did not realize that the problem only refers to asian text in special and not to finding the default format in general.
Confirming. It is not possible to find asian text formatted with the default format. Searching western text works fine, but it fails for asian text.
Created attachment 27387 [details] document to reproduce the problem.
(the problem is not only that it doesn't find the asian text at all, but that the search for western text finds everything (inlcuding the asian text)) setting version to the one I used ("current" -> m110)
SBA: Confirming too.Reassigned to OS.
