Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 56254
Changing outline numbering resets "restart numbering at this paragraph" property
Last modified: 2005-11-03 16:10:42 UTC
Problem: If you have a document with headings and paragraphs, and some of the paragraphs are numbered and possess the "restart numbering at this paragraph" property, and if you then change the outline numbering (e.g. you assign a numbering to another heading level), the property mentioned above gets lost for all paragraphs in the document. How to reproduce [I use the german localization, so some translations might be inaccurate]: 1) Create an empty text document. 2) Type a text containing some headings and body paragraphs, e.g. Heading 1 [Style: Heading 1] Text Body 1 [Style: Text Body] Text Body 2 [Style: Text Body] 3) Open the property page for the "Text Body" paragraph style, go the the "Numberings" tab and assign a numbering (e.g. "Numbering 2"). 4) Select both "Text Body" paragraphs and switch the numbering on for them simultaneously. You receive something like: Heading 1 1 Text Body 1 2 Text Body 2 5) Select the second "Text Body" paragraph, go into the paragraph property dialogue, choose the "Numberings" tab and activate the option "restart numbering at this paragraph". You receive: Heading 1 1 Text Body 1 1 Text Body 2 6) Now go into the "outline numbering" dialogue and assign a numbering (e.g. "1, 2, 3, ...") to level 1. You receive: 1. Heading 1 1 Text Body 1 2 Text Body 2 The "reset numbering at this paragraph" property of the second "Text Body" paragraph got lost. This applies to OpenOffice.org 2.0RC3.
