@kso: cannot really do much against this - the text animations are already slow, even without the GIFs. Target 2.1 is kind of unrealistic...
Is some of this issue solved in issue 69847 (text animations slow)?
@aziehm: nope, issue 69847 is about the special text scrolling/blinking that's already available in the edit view (and also in Draw). You enable that via the Text->Animation tabpage in the context menu.
Retargetted to 2.x - aw's drawing layer primitives could make a difference here.
set target from 2.x to 3.x according to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Target_3x
@af: thanks for having a look. Makes sense to deal with this wholesale when using primitives in slideshow.
Changed platform to all, because I can reproduce this easily on Windows 7. The combination of sound, animated gifs, and animated text even prevents ESC or mouse clicks from being processed.
See issue 82275 for more on performance problems with animated images.
This issue combines two different problems that are covered by two separate issues. Issue 82275 takes care of the bad performance of animated images. Issue 88982 is about the bad character animation quality and performance. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 82275 ***
