Description kpalagin 2006-11-09 12:57:43 UTC
Calc crashes when I have many windows (mail, browser, documents etc) open.
This crash is not very reproducible, especially on somebody else's machine,
but I hit it quite often - apparently some kind of GDI resource is depleted
and OO can't handle this.
For whatever reason Crash Reporter is not invoking after crash (maybe becuase
I am using Dev build).
I am willing to do whatever needs to be done (short of sending machine to Sun)
to assist in debugging this issue.
WBR,
K. Palagin.

Please check your graphics driver and your printer driver if they need an update.

ja,
this happens on two different machines, with different versions of video
drivers, video chipsets and system chipsets. The only thing in common is
number of open windows. When it is high enough other apps are gracefully
failing (like Paint "Can't create a new window"), but OO crashes (active apps
close, quickstarter icon disappears, soffice.bin is not in task list anymore).

@kpalagin :

Please tell us how many RAM has the machine used physically.

@NN:

Maybe a double to Issue 71937 ?!

Frank

fst,
one machine has 2GB of RAM, the other 1.75GB. Both exhibit described behavior.

This seems to be framework issue as Writer crashes too. Repro steps:
1. Start Writer.
2. Open many (file) Explorer windows (untill opening new windows starts to
fail; I had to open more than 50). Using Win-E will make the process easier.
3. Go to Writer, click File - New. Office crashes.
