Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76138
In MS Word, optimal page wrap setting causes tables to be imported as frames on top of one another.
Last modified: 2007-04-10 10:04:27 UTC
In MS Word, if the wrapping is set to optimal page wrap, tables are imported as frames (with tables inside) instead of tables only. The problem is that all the frames are put one above the other making the tables unreadable. In MS Word, if the wrapping option for the tables is removed, they import fine in OOo. A document that exhibits this problem can be found using the following link: http://www.opspecs.com/AFSDATA/MMELs/Final/transport/CE-500%20R8a/ The document is quite lengthy. Other forum participants were able to duplicate the problem.
Confirming with OO 2.2m8 on WinXP - scroll to the last page and see how many pages are condensed on the last one (see attached screenshot). Also note that Word shows 75 pages and Writer just 22. I am attaching .zip of problematic document.

Known problem, see issue 13791. Not an import problem, has to be solved in Writer's core features. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 13791 ***

coryrh, I suggest voting for 13791.
