Description ooo 2002-10-06 22:54:19 UTC
You can only see the current cell if you are outside the
split area (when you are in the fixed area).

So you can't actually see which cell you will type in except
looking at the hightlighted column letter and row number.

Perhaps this issue is similar or relates to Issue 7954 ?

I am not able to duplicate this behavior. I always see my selected
cell and curser at both the cell and the input line when my sheet is
split. I am not able to have split and freeze, its either one or the
other from what I see. Am I missing something? I too am running
Win98 with OOo 1.0.1. Would it be possible for you to provide a set
of instructions to duplicate the behavior? Thanx...

I forgot to mention that it is both splitted and frozen.

Now I am on a Linux box and here there are no problems.

I am still not able to duplicate. I cannot achieve split and freeze
at the same time. It seems to toggle between them. When one is
selected, the other is deselected. I am willing to try again, if you
will write a sequence of steps to follow. Also, the answer to this
question will be a helpful clue: When you see the error, what features
are marked with the check marks in the Window menu? Thanx!

I was able to see this in a workbook that I have spent quite a lot of
time in. I worked in the first sheet for days in a row, and had no
problems with it. When it was at a somewhat "finished" state, I added
more pages to the workbook, then linked cells in the new pages to
cells in the the first page, so that values in the cells on the first
page would reflect in the reports following it. (The formulas lived in
other pages, where I typed = and then clicked onto a cell in the first
page, then pressed enter; and I probably linked to 20 or 30 cells in
the first page from 2 or 3 other worksheets in the same workbook.)
After doing this, I went back to do more work in the first page. At
one point after this, I had some cells frozen in the first page, and
the active cell border disappeared, in the cells that were not frozen,
as I moved around the spreadsheet. I could still see what cell I was
in, because the coordinate column and row markings reflected my
location. But the heavy box border around the active cell
disappeared. When I disabled the freeze function, the active cell box
border re-appeared, and when I froze panes again, it disappeared. All
of these steps were performed in one sitting. I then saved and closed
my workbook, and went away for a few hours. When I came back to it,
the issue was no longer visible.

Claus, were cells in your spreadsheet where you saw this behaviour
linked to other worksheets? And was the issue repeatable in your
spreadsheet? And I also wonder, were you in the process of linking
cells when you saw this? The issue did not appear at all for me,
until I linked cells from other pages to this page. And it is not
repeatable for me, in this case, although it was at the moment that I
saw it. I was working in 1.0.2 on Win98 during these observations.
Perhaps this is related to Issue 7954, which is now fixed in 644? The
formula set up is a bit different, but the issue is similar. I was
not using the split function, but Claus mentioned he was using the
freeze function.

Not reproducible. Please retry with the latest developer build
(OOo644m7) and give a step by step description how to step into the
problem.

This task is fixed or worked in OOo 1.1 beta2.

I use OOo 1.1.0 on Linux (from SuSE 9.0) and I still have this problem. It
appears when I worked a while with a spreadsheet document that has several
tables (sheets) and some of them are frozen (fixed). When this problem appears,
it is on all frozen tables. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out how to
reproduce it. You can find a screenshot on

The border around the current cell appears at the fixed column(s) (e.g. A1, A2,
... ), but NOT on the fixed row(s) (e.g. B1, C1, ... ) and also NOT on the
unfixed cells (e.g. B2, B3, ..., C2, C3, ... ).

Hi all, just wanted to post here to make sure you were all aware of a new issue
that I've logged (issue 28538). I'm not 100% certain from your descriptions that
it is the same issue (it sounds like the same symptom, but the cause may be
different). So if it is indeed a duplicate, sorry. However, I've included in
that issue detailed step-by-step instructions to recreate consistently. I've
only tested on WinXP, OOo 1.1.1 though.
