Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 85626
No file extension change when changing file type on "Save as ..."
Last modified: 2008-01-30 16:38:01 UTC
) I have a document ) Select SAVE AS... (or save the first time) ) Try to save as a particular file type, for example Word 97/2000 ) I change my mind, and I choose another file type, for example XML ) On the File Name text box, still appears .DOC ) I select another extension, for example RTF ) Now Writer puts the extension as XML That is, Writer always shows the previously selected extension, not the one I just selected. The same "Save As..." defect happens also in "Calc". IM not sure about the version I have, the "About..." dialog says only 2.3.0, not "RC1". I try to download searcg for an update, it says (in spanish) "Failed update" = "Comprobando actualizaciones fallidas."
please try in the latest version 2.3.1 and comment

Hi, I see the issue has been closed, does that mean resolved ? Can I download now some update to see if the system is really fixed ? Thanks, siranm
This is a known problem with the automatic file extension feature and has been reported a lot of times. For example see issue 2543, issue 2852, and issue 7393. It was addressed by issue 78854 and issue 81651, so it's somewhat fixed in the latest OOH680/SRC680 builds. See also issue 85307.
