Description Graham Perrin 2008-09-06 20:19:14 UTC
Using Safari 3.1.2 (5525.20.1) on Mac OS X 10.5.4, Intel

1. I log in, successfully

2. at http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/StartPage I click 'File issue'

3. http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html

4. I see the site no longer treats me as logged in; where earlier the blue area
at the head of the page read 'Log Out', now the same area reads 'Log In'.

5. At http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/submission_gateway.html I tried
again using my valid user name and password, but the site continued to present
the Log In prompt.

= End result =

I could not file issues.

= Workaround =

Setting aside Safari, I tried Firefox 3.0.1 instead
(and discovered a different issue, 93546).

Is it than just the login in the upper right area led to confusion or did you
actually run into the "permission denied" page?
It might be that you stumbled over a cached login status but might have been
able to submit an issue anyway...

Neither; at one point (after using the upper right area) I was logged in but then as I tried to progress to
file a new issue, the same area showed me as logged out and I definitely could not file.

I suspect a transient issue.

> but might have been able to submit an issue anyway...

Whilst the logged in/logged out symptoms were present in Safari, I switched to Firefox to file issues.

Hm, I guess we will see more Safari users in the next time.
Is the problem reproducible? Otherwise I would like to close it as worksforme
for now.

Thanks, I'm happy for the issue to be closed.

My closing thought is that it may have a server-side issue; even when I switched from Safari to Firefox on
that day, the server response following my (Firefox) log in was odd (filed as a separate issue, 93546).

closing...
Comment 6 Graham Perrin 2008-09-22 15:11:11 UTC
The issue recurred.

I suspect that it happens only when I _click on_ the expression 'Log In' and enter credentials at the
dedicated log in page.

(May not happen if I enter credentials in the 'floating' fields that drop down in response to hovering the
mouse in that area.)

Still in the same browser session, using Safari, without quitting and re-launching, I find myself at

http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html

where there is (again) the invitation to 'Log In'

then when I click 'proceed' (see screen shot) I can indeed proceed without logging in.

Could you please report/reopen if the issue still exists? Works with Safari 4.0.5
