Please.
Comment 7 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2013-08-12 09:04:18 UTC
reproduced the described defect in OOo 3.3.0 -> adjusting field Version accordingly.

Not sure, if this is a defect or a request for a change.
As AOO is not a clone of Microsoft Office, a feature behaving different in AOO compared to Microsoft Office does not mean automatically that it is a defect in AOO.
Comment 8 Edwin Sharp 2013-11-22 08:59:34 UTC
It is common sense that text will have precedence over border.
Gnumeric and Google Drive spreadsheet also differ from Calc.

remove the blocker flag to avoid confusion.

Please don't use the blocker flag to this kind of normal issues. We use it for real blocker issues only.
Comment 11 Andre 2014-02-13 14:38:59 UTC
To me this is not a defect and not even a request for enhancement but a feature request. If we make the requested change then we might get other complaints that the borders are not visible anymore.
Comment 12 Edwin Sharp 2014-02-16 18:41:13 UTC
IMHO a bug.

What is the fate of this issue:
a) to be discussed further
b) to be implemented
c) wont fix
?
Comment 13 Andre 2014-02-17 08:42:42 UTC
A bug, to my understanding, is an error in the implementation of a feature. This issue looks more like it works as designed but that the design is different from what the issue author (and others) expects. That makes it, again in my understanding, at best an enhancement but more a request to change the feature design.
But ultimately somebody has to be willing to change this (propose a different design, modify the implementation). I am not a Writer expert, so I will not be that person.
Comment 14 Edwin Sharp 2014-02-17 08:56:48 UTC
This is Calc, not Writer.

IMHO, A bug where a non-intuitive feature works according specification >> A bug where an intuitive feature deviates from specification.
Comment 15 Andre 2014-02-17 10:05:45 UTC
@Edwin: You are right, but I am not a Calc expert either (am not an expert in so many things).

The thing with intuition is that it is very subjective. What I think is intuitive may not be for you.

Where is a specification how it should work?
Have the OpenDocument Standard a description how a cell should be rendered?

In my opinion a border is a border and it should be a border. So for me is the bug (if there is a bug), that cell content can overflow the border.
