A related option, available in MSWord and lacking in OOo, is to justify page content vertically. Should this option be included in this issue or should I create a new issue ? Sincerely, Fousage
No, you don't need another issue. This issue should cover the alignment of page content: top, bottom, centered or justified.
Could someone attach the spec that was mentioned 'to follow' back in Sep 2003 please, or include a URL in this issue? Thanks.
Sorry to say that. At the moment nobody is working on this issue. So doing the specification would be a waste of time. If there is a volunteer for implementation or specification I'll happy to support him.

@ ama I would like to contribute with specs. I'm sure there is some help from others on the lists, when needed. Furthermore I've experience in programming (most scripting), specifications and testing, so that might be sufficient. It probably won't be in the month May that I have time for it, but if you can help me (the newest template for specs?) that would be fine. greetings, Cor
@ cor Please have a look at our specification wiki: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Category:Specification There you'll find our newest template for specifications. For the vertical page layout we have to define what should happen with header/footer, footnotes and objects like graphics/drawing objects. And, of course we have to take care of import issues from other text processors.
@ ama Thanks. That's helpful and clear. As written before, I'll pick it up in June.
I've written a first draft and had a (more global) discussion at dev@specs: http://specs.openoffice.org/servlets/BrowseList?list=dev&by=thread&from=1478720 I'll attach it to this issue for later.
Created attachment 38685 [details] first draft of specs for this issue
This is important info to the doc project. Added myself to the cc list

How can we ever expect someone to find this issue in IssueTRacker?? Therefore change summary from: "Q-PCD MSInteroperability-MIB-05" to "Support vertical centering of text in a page"
changed keyword
I personally use this capability quite a lot when I use MS Word. I would like to know that I can make use of it when I use OO or Star. Paul Gauci
Need to center a page vertically and, more important for me, need to be able to Justify the text vertically, like in ms office word. Thanks
duh, i looked for this feature within the first 5 minutes of installing lo because i needed to format my cover page. the suggestion to "eyeball it", "use table", or "use frame" is ridiculous. the reason no one is complaining is because it would be easier to use microsoft instead of wasting time trying to convince a programmer why vertical centering is important.
